1.Essential only

Case Closed uses cookies for one thing: keeping you signed in. Alongside them, the site keeps a few small keys in your browser's local storage to remember preferences on this device — whether you have seen the walkthrough, whether you dismissed this notice. That is the whole list.

There is no analytics, no tracking and no advertising on the site today, and no third-party cookie of any kind. Nothing here follows you to other websites.

2.The list

NameTypeWhat it doesHow long
sb-<project>-auth-token (and .0, .1 … chunks)CookieKeeps you signed in (Supabase Auth session).Until you sign out, or the session expires.
sb-<project>-auth-token-code-verifierCookieCompletes a Google sign-in or an emailed link securely (PKCE).Minutes — deleted once the sign-in completes.
cc:cookie-noticeLocal storageRemembers that you have seen this notice (and your choice, if analytics is ever added).Until you clear your browser data.
cc:show-tutorial:<your id>Local storageRemembers whether the first-play walkthrough should show on this device.Until you clear your browser data.
cc:opening:<team id>Local storageRemembers that a team has read the case's opening spread.Until you clear your browser data.
cc-guest, cc-guest-aliasLocal storageRemembers that you joined a team as a guest, and the name you used, so you can claim the account later.Until you claim the account or clear your browser data.

The sign-in cookies are set by Supabase, which runs our sign-in. They are first-party (they belong to this site) and are needed for the site to work, so no consent is required for them under Canadian, EU or UK rules. The local-storage keys never leave your browser.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page when you buy credits; that page is Stripe's, and its privacy policy covers it.

3.Your choices

  • Signing out deletes the sign-in cookies.
  • Clearing your browser's site data for this site removes everything in the list above. You will simply be signed out and see the walkthrough again.
  • Blocking cookies entirely in your browser means you cannot sign in, so the game will not work.

4.If we ever add analytics

We may one day want to count visits to see which pages help players. If that happens:

  • we will say so on this page and in the change log first;
  • the small notice at the bottom of the screen will become a consent banner with Accept and Decline, and nothing about analytics loads until you choose;
  • outside Canada and the United States the default is Decline — analytics stays off unless you turn it on;
  • you will be able to change your mind on this page at any time.

Whatever we add, we will never sell your data and we will never use cookies for advertising. The Privacy Policy has the rest.
