Cold Storage

The sister sits across from us with a thermos of coffee she hasn't touched. Her brother, Zach Williams, was a dockhand who'd been shop steward long enough to know where the container fees actually went. He had a meeting scheduled with the fee auditors. He never made it. Night security found him locked inside a cold-storage unit at the harbour, and the police wrote it up as a man who wandered somewhere he shouldn't have and couldn't get the door open. The sister doesn't buy it, and neither do we — the alarm on that door doesn't fail quietly, it fails because someone wants it to. Somewhere between the union hall and the rail yards, a ledger doesn't add up, and a lot of people who work the night shift are suddenly very interested in what we're asking. We start walking the docks. Nobody there sleeps easy anymore.

One purchase, three attempts. A started team is an attempt. Only your first attempt lands on the leaderboard.

Team size sets the difficulty. Pick 1–4 detectives; it locks when the case starts. Bigger teams get more branches, another gate and extra questions.

Teammates need no account. Share the join code or the link; up to three guests can sit at the table. Only the leader starts, pauses and submits.

Score. Right answers first, then fewer rides, then time. Going back to a place you have seen is free; a wrong gate code costs a ride.
